Evan Seiden, Executive Secretary to the Mental Health Practitioners Regulatory BoardEvan will discuss the application process for people applying for the diagnostic privilege and will provide you with information useful to your students who will need to apply after graduation.

Heather Evans, NYMHCA Government Relations Consultant, Hinman Straub Advisors Heather will discuss NYMHCA’s legislative agenda and how the passage of the proposed legislation will affect your students as they become practicing professionals.
11:15 AM - Noon Mental Health Counseling Evidence-Based Practice Internship Program
Lucy Newman, Ph. D., Project Director for Evidence-based Practice in Mental Health, NYS Office of Mental Health Lucy will talk about her project that allows mental health counseling students to train to work with the seriously mentally ill and then find jobs in OMH agencies. The program contracts with graduate programs around the state and there are stipends for the students and faculty advisor.

D., Director of Workforce Development at the NYS Office of Mental Health Julia Fesko, Director of Bureau of Workforce Development at NYS OASAS Samanatha and Julia will discuss employment and internship opportunities in OMH & OASAS funded agencies.
